Hobbs, NM: Drafter

RRC Surveying is a professional land surveying firm – we conduct surveys for a wide range of projects including oil field well location and pipeline surveys, engineering surveys such as ALTA and topographic, and construction staking for wind, solar, and power facilities projects. RRC has openings in both our Hobbs, New Mexico and our Midland, Texas locations.

Ideal applicants will have a minimum of two years of experience as a Drafter, preferably working with boundary and topographic surveys, well location drawings, pipeline plan and profiles, alignment sheets and right-of-way/easement plats. Hobbs, NM: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with NM and TX Licensure

RRC Surveying is a professional land surveying firm – we conduct surveys for a wide range of projects including oil field well location and pipeline surveys, engineering surveys such as ALTA and topographic, and construction staking for wind, solar, and power facilities projects.

We are seeking a self-motivated Professional Land Surveyor to supervise, review and sign survey drawings and documents. The ideal candidate must be licensed in New Mexico with the ability to obtain Texas licensure in short order. License must be in good standing. A minimum of 3 years of experience supervising oil and gas, topographic, boundary and ALTA surveys is required. Construction staking experience preferred. Working knowledge of Topcon/Trimble GPS survey equipment, Trimble Business Center, Survey Pro and Carlson Survey or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. Some travel may be required.

Applicant must have expertise in directing and performing all aspects of acquiring, processing, analyzing and compiling data to prepare maps, documents and deliverables for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, control and design surveys, plats, records of survey, ALTA/ACSM surveys, lot line adjustments and easement acquisitions, submittal of documents, other office surveying tasks and occasional field related tasks. Candidate must be familiar with federal, state and local laws and requirements pertaining to surveying. RRC is seeking a talented Substation Designer to help us build the future of U.S. energy production from our Tualatin, Oregon office. Education/Experience Requirements
• Associates of Science Degree in Drafting/Design

Round Rock, TX: Civil Engineering Group, Operations Manager

RRC has a full-time opportunity for an experienced Civil Group Operations Manager at our headquarters in Round Rock, Texas. This position is responsible for the overall direction, interface, coordination, implementation, on-time execution, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of civil designs for renewable energy and general civil work. The position will manage 5-7 Civil Engineers, CAD Operators, and Sub-Contractors, and reports to the Civil Group Manager.

Main Responsibilities
The position requires a qualified individual to manage the full civil design of wind projects, which includes site planning, micro-siting, layout and permitting support, turbine access roads, both private and public, collection system routing, crane pads, crane paths, drainage and grading design, and construction support. The position also includes full civil design of solar projects, including site planning, layout, permitting support, roads, grading and drainage, fencing, and construction support. General civil design, including transportation and infrastructure engineering, are also included. Responsibilities include storm-water design, drainage, subgrade, and flexible and rigid pavement design and condition assessment of existing civil infrastructure. The position requires proven ability to manage people, interface with clients, coordinate with other internal staff and disciplines, and commitment to QA/QC, safety, and on-time deliverables.

Required Job Skills
• Civil engineering design and optimization in accordance with applicable codes and standards and industry practices
• Day-to-day management and direction of Civil Group
• Planning, defining project tasks, scheduling, resource allocation, and on-time execution of civil scope of work and project deliverables

Education/Experience Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Must be a licensed and registered Civil Engineer in Texas and able to quickly secure civil engineer licensure in other states through the NCEES process to meet business needs
• Minimum 5-10 years of civil engineering consulting and design experience
• Wind and solar civil engineering consulting experience is a plus
• Experience in permitting support, engineering, and construction
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of Civil 3D and MS Project
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills with an emphasis on client service
• Self-starter with independent judgment
• Possess multi-tasking capability and ability to change focus quickly

Round Rock, TX (Travel): Field Geotechnical Technician/Geologist

RRC is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineering Field Technician/Geologist (Travel) to support RRC’s projects throughout the United States. This position is based in RRC’s Round Rock, Texas office.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys under specific work instructions as provided by the engineering staff. The fieldwork will include geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging. Additionally geophysical surveys will consist of performing seismic surveys, earth electrical resistivity surveys, and other appropriate surveys as directed by a project geophysicist.
• Observation and documentation of geotechnical construction activities and perform construction material testing/inspection during construction phases.
• Perform other engineering activities as required.

Job Requirements:
• High school diploma required. BS or Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, and Geophysics preferred.
• Willing to travel and work in various site conditions and project locations throughout the United States.
• Proficiency with MS Office computer programs.
• Previous experience in outdoor/field working/driving conditions is preferred.
• Previous experience in Geotechnical drilling/sampling and construction material testing in soil and concrete is preferred.

Round Rock, TX: Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.)

RRC is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support RRC’s projects throughout the United States. This position is based in RRC’s Round Rock, Texas office.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys for RRC’s projects under specific work instructions as provided by project managers, including geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging, and geophysical surveys. This also includes communication and interaction with drilling contractors and clients.
• Observation and documentation of geotechnical construction activities and perform construction material testing/inspection during construction phases.
• Under the supervision of RRC’s senior geotechnical staff, perform geotechnical engineering tasks including review of soil and bedrock samples, review in-situ and laboratory test results, shallow and deep foundation design calculations, settlement calculations, slope stability and other conventional geotechnical engineering calculations.
• Perform other engineering activities as required.

Job Requirements:
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• A good understanding of soil mechanics, geology, and/or geophysical surveys.
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical engineering. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Willing to work in outdoor conditions and travel to various project locations throughout the United States. Please note that extensive travel (50 to 75%) to the ongoing RRC Project sites, located throughout the United States will be required during the first two years.
• Proficiency with MS Office computer programs. Familiarity with gINT, GIS mapping programs, Slope/W, and LPile software is plus.

Round Rock, TX: Geotechnical Field Supervisor

RRC is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Field Supervisor with 5 or more years of experience in supervisory/lead position in geotechnical field exploration work of energy, industrial, or transportation projects. Candidate must have complete understanding of geotechnical drilling equipment, soil and bedrock sampling techniques and field and laboratory testing. Candidate must have hands-on experience with geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, soil and rock logging. This position is based in RRC’s Round Rock, Texas office.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and setup fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys for RRC’s projects as per specifications provided by Geotechnical Project Manager. This includes scheduling fieldwork, schedule drilling subcontractors and arranges other logistics, calling in underground utilities, and interacting with on-site client representatives and subcontractors.
• Ensure the field operations are completed safely, on time, on budget and as per project scope.
• Mentor and lead geotechnical field team. Provide training to the field crew and perform on site quality check and quality assurance.
• Travel to project sites to conduct field quality/safety inspection and training of geotechnical personnel. When required, perform geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil/rock logging as back-up geotechnical field personnel.
• Coordinate procurement of field supplies, procurement and maintenance of geotechnical field equipment and fleet vehicles.
• Solicit rates from drilling subcontractors and vendors.

Job Requirements:
