Hobbs, NM: Drafter

RRC Surveying is a professional land surveying firm – we conduct surveys for a wide range of projects including oil field well location and pipeline surveys, engineering surveys such as ALTA and topographic, and construction staking for wind, solar, and power facilities projects. RRC has openings in both our Hobbs, New Mexico and our Midland, Texas locations.

Ideal applicants will have a minimum of two years of experience as a Drafter, preferably working with boundary and topographic surveys, well location drawings, pipeline plan and profiles, alignment sheets and right-of-way/easement plats. Hobbs, NM: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with NM and TX Licensure

RRC Surveying is a professional land surveying firm – we conduct surveys for a wide range of projects including oil field well location and pipeline surveys, engineering surveys such as ALTA and topographic, and construction staking for wind, solar, and power facilities projects.

We are seeking a self-motivated Professional Land Surveyor to supervise, review and sign survey drawings and documents. The ideal candidate must be licensed in New Mexico with the ability to obtain Texas licensure in short order. License must be in good standing. A minimum of 3 years of experience supervising oil and gas, topographic, boundary and ALTA surveys is required. Construction staking experience preferred. Working knowledge of Topcon/Trimble GPS survey equipment, Trimble Business Center, Survey Pro and Carlson Survey or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. Some travel may be required.

Applicant must have expertise in directing and performing all aspects of acquiring, processing, analyzing and compiling data to prepare maps, documents and deliverables for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, control and design surveys, plats, records of survey, ALTA/ACSM surveys, lot line adjustments and easement acquisitions, submittal of documents, other office surveying tasks and occasional field related tasks. Tualatin, OR: Senior Structural T&D Engineer

RRC Power & Energy is seeking a Sr. Structural T&D Engineer to join our engineering group in Tualatin, OR — a suburb of Portland, Oregon. This position will be responsible for leading the structural engineering and design effort for assigned substation and transmission line projects from 15 kV through 345 kV. The design will focus on detailed design of utility and renewable energy substation and transmission line systems. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience and be a registered PE.

Essential Responsibilities
• Coordinate all structural aspects of substation and transmission line projects.
• Provide technical execution and oversight of substation and transmission line structural engineering including steel structures and foundations.
• Write specifications and contractor work scopes, request vendor quotations, evaluate quotations and material purchase request forms for substation and transmission line structures and related items.
• Interface with internal and external team members including Protection and Control Engineers, Structural Engineers, Geo-technical Engineers, Civil Engineers, Electrical Designers, Physical Designers, Draftsmen, Project Managers, and support organizations.
• Be responsible for the oversight and integral knowledge of all structural specifications, plan and elevation drawings, general substation arrangement and layout, and layouts for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, conduit, cable, and wiring, grounding, switchgear and control buildings.
• Be responsible for the oversight and design of transmission lines including plan and profile drawings, assembly drawings, staking sheets, plus conductor sag and tension charts.
• Direct efforts of engineers and designers and coordinate with sourcing and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, a and schedule objectives.
• Perform design calculations for foundation requirements, buss deflection, and steel structure sizing.

Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Structural and/or Civil) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in renewable and utility substation and transmission line design.
• Professional Engineering registration license or ability to obtain license.
• Must be authorized for full-time work in the United States.
• Must have or be able to get NCEES records to be licensed in multiple states.
• Knowledge of and experience using NESC, ASCE, ACI and ANSI standards and codes.
• Ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided.

RRC Power & Energy is seeking a Sr. Substation Designer to join our electrical engineering group in Tualatin, OR — a suburb of Portland Oregon. This position will be responsible for designing substations up to 345 kV. The work will focus on detailed design of utility and renewable energy substation systems. Candidates will work under the guidance of senior Substation Engineers.

Essential Responsibilities
• Perform initial layout and design of substation physical design (grounding, foundations, structures, bus work, equipment, etc.) and protection and control (one line, three line, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc.) with a focus on quality and technical accuracy.
• Interface with internal and external team members including Protection and Control Engineers, Electrical Designers, Physical Designers, Drafts people, Project Managers, and support organizations.
• Perform design of single line drawings and schematics, plan and elevation drawings, general substation arrangement and layout, relay protection and control requirements, plus layouts for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, conduit, cable, wiring, grounding, switchgear and control buildings.
• Demonstrate knowledge of equipment specifications and vendor drawings.

RRC is seeking a talented Substation Designer to help us build the future of U.S. energy production from our Tualatin, Oregon office. RRC is a consulting engineering firm that specializes in energy projects, particularly renewable energy. Education/Experience Requirements

Round Rock, TX (Travel): Field Geotechnical Technician/Geologist

RRC is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineering Field Technician/Geologist (Travel) to support RRC’s projects throughout the United States. This position is based in RRC’s Round Rock, Texas office.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys under specific work instructions as provided by the engineering staff. The fieldwork will include geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging. Additionally geophysical surveys will consist of performing seismic surveys, earth electrical resistivity surveys, and other appropriate surveys as directed by a project geophysicist.
• Observation and documentation of geotechnical construction activities and perform construction material testing/inspection during construction phases.
• Perform other engineering activities as required.

Job Requirements:
• High school diploma required. BS or Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, and Geophysics preferred.
• Willing to travel and work in various site conditions and project locations throughout the United States.

Round Rock, TX: Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.)

RRC is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support RRC’s projects throughout the United States. This position is based in RRC’s Round Rock, Texas office.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys for RRC’s projects under specific work instructions as provided by project managers, including geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging, and geophysical surveys. This also includes communication and interaction with drilling contractors and clients.
• Observation and documentation of geotechnical construction activities and perform construction material testing/inspection during construction phases.
• Under the supervision of RRC’s senior geotechnical staff, perform geotechnical engineering tasks including review of soil and bedrock samples, review in-situ and laboratory test results, shallow and deep foundation design calculations, settlement calculations, slope stability and other conventional geotechnical engineering calculations.
• Perform other engineering activities as required.

Job Requirements:
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• A good understanding of soil mechanics, geology, and/or geophysical surveys.
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical engineering. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Willing to work in outdoor conditions and travel to various project locations throughout the United States. Please note that extensive travel (50 to 75%) to the ongoing RRC Project sites, located throughout the United States will be required during the first two years.

Round Rock, TX: Geotechnical Field Supervisor

RRC is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Field Supervisor with 5 or more years of experience in supervisory/lead position in geotechnical field exploration work of energy, industrial, or transportation projects. Candidate must have complete understanding of geotechnical drilling equipment, soil and bedrock sampling techniques and field and laboratory testing. Candidate must have hands-on experience with geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, soil and rock logging. This position is based in RRC’s Round Rock, Texas office.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and setup fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys for RRC’s projects as per specifications provided by Geotechnical Project Manager. This includes scheduling fieldwork, schedule drilling subcontractors and arranges other logistics, calling in underground utilities, and interacting with on-site client representatives and subcontractors.
• Ensure the field operations are completed safely, on time, on budget and as per project scope.
• Mentor and lead geotechnical field team. Provide training to the field crew and perform on site quality check and quality assurance.
• Travel to project sites to conduct field quality/safety inspection and training of geotechnical personnel. When required, perform geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil/rock logging as back-up geotechnical field personnel.
• Coordinate procurement of field supplies, procurement and maintenance of geotechnical field equipment and fleet vehicles.
• Solicit rates from drilling subcontractors and vendors.

Job Requirements:
• Strong leadership qualities and excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Able to coordinate with multiple field project teams on various projects at the same time.
• Willing to travel and work in various site outdoor conditions and project locations throughout the United States; 25% of travel is expected.
